In Chrome for Windows & MacOS, press ctrl + shift + e keys at same time while browsing any website–or alternatively, open the Chrome Menu in the upper right-hand corner and select Tools > Extensions.
For Safari browser, open Preferences on MacOS or Apple menu -> System Preferences on Windows (or use “Safari” app’s icon) to go to Extensions tab; there uncheck a particular plugin by clicking it and confirm by pressing Remove button while holding down Alt key pressed simultaneously (MacOS), Ctrl/Cmd key pressed simultaneously (Windows).
In Firefox for iOS – From your home screen press Settings cogwheel at top left of page then tap Web Browser into the list that appears from the dropdown menu scroll until you see Permissions > Disable Plugins then tap Disabled under Extension Listing one more time before tapping back arrow button twice to return to home screen.
From your home screen press Settings cogwheel at top left of page then tap Privacy > Content Blocking into the list that appears from the dropdown menu scroll until you see Plugins and turn on Block content; there click Disabled under Extension Listing one more time before tapping back arrow button twice to return to Home Screen.
In Firefox for iOS – From your home screen press Settings cogwheel at top left of page then tap Web Browser into the list that appears from the dropdown menu scroll until you see Permissions > Disable Plugins then tap Disabled under Extension Listing one more time before tapping back arrow button twice to return to home screen.
In Safari browser, open Preferences and tap Security > Enable Plugins then use the slider to disable plugins.
Close and reopen your browser for changes to take effect.
That will stop content from loading automatically on web pages, but you’ll still be able to turn them on manually with a click of an icon if desired. It’s worth noting that this won’t remove existing blocked content from your phone; it just prevents any new items being loaded by default until they’re clicked in again one at a time while browsing like usual. This may also block ads or other types of online advertising which are not desirable under some circumstances, so be aware before turning off these features entirely!
It is recommended that you only do this when using public Wi-Fi networks (such as those in coffee shops or libraries) that you don’t fully trust, and then turning it back on again when done. – If your connection was already being secured with a VPN service before doing this, the change may not have an effect because encryption is typically applied to entire connections rather than individual web pages.
