As much as I enjoy the television show “The Good Place,” I could not agree more with the statements in the last episode that I would have been better off if I had never been born. The show’s theme of “What if?” is an interesting take on the concept of perfectionism. For me, perfection is a subjective term.
The show’s creator, David Brenner, has said that if he could make a show that wasn’t about people’s flaws and imperfections, that would be The Good Place. So while it’s very much about people’s flaws and imperfections, it’s also about the possibility of perfection. For me, it’s a show that reminds me that the only way I can get as much joy as I want in each moment of my life is if I keep trying to do better.
