from the list below, select the variable that will cause the demand curve to shift:

A shift in demand can be caused by a change in price, the number of buyers, or the usefulness of the good. All three variables are important for understanding how to answer this question. While it is difficult to say which one shifts a demand curve more than another, let’s look at each variable and see what they mean.

The first variable is price: when prices rise people will buy less of that product because it becomes too expensive for them. This causes a leftward shift in their demand curve as shown below (demand decreases). The second variable is number of buyers: if there are more people who want to purchase your product then you will have an upward sloping demand curve like this one here (demand increases). The third variable is usefulness: when a product becomes more useful, then people will buy it. This causes the demand curve to shift rightward and upwards as shown below (demand increases).

The change in price affects buyers because they cannot afford products at that new higher prices so their quantity demanded falls since the price has risen. The number of buyers affect how many goods are bought by them so this would also cause an upward sloping or downward sloping demand curve depending on if there were more or less customers than before. Finally, usefulness changes how much consumers want to buy a certain good which means the demand curve shifts either leftward or rightwards but not always up like with number of buyers.

What’s interesting about these variables?

What’s interesting about these variables is that they can each shift the demand curve in different ways. A change in price will cause more people to want it and this causes a rightward shift of the demand curve. The number of buyers, on the other hand, may decrease how much consumers buy so you would see an upwards sloping or downward-sloping slope as supply changes with a leftward or rightwards movement respectively depending on whether there are more or less customers than before. Finally, usefulness shifts either leftward (utility decreases) or rightwards (new utility increases). Utility is what determines how many purchases someone wants since without it nobody would be buying goods at all!

The last sentence should say: “Utility is what determines how many purchases someone wants since without it nobody would be buying goods at all!” And the sentence following that should say: “This is why things which are useful or provide utility, such as food and water, usually have a very high demand.”

“That they can each shift the demand curve in different ways. A change in price will cause more people to want it and this causes a rightward shift of the demand curve. The number of buyers, on the other hand, may decrease how much consumers buy so you would see an upwards sloping or downward-sloping slope as supply changes with a leftward or rightwards movement respectively depending on whether there are more or less customers than before.”

Select one answer. A change in price will cause __ __ to happen: (a)more people wanting it; (b)less people buying it; (c)no difference for either effect; (d)the same thing happens when we measure the effects from suppliers’ point of view? The first paragraph of the text is this:

A change in price will cause more people to want it and this causes a rightward shift of the demand curve. The number of buyers, on the other hand, may decrease how much consumers buy so you would see an upwards sloping or downward-sloping slope as supply changes with a leftward or rightwards movement respectively depending on whether there are more or less customers than before.”

The correct answer is (c)no difference for either effect. A change in price doesn’t make any differents when we measure from suppliers’ point of view; because if they don’t have enough inventory then their quantity demanded goes up while if they’re making too many things then that means that their quantity supplied remains unchanged.

The no difference for either effect. A change in price doesn’t make any differents when we measure from suppliers’ point of view; because if they don’t have enough inventory then their quantity demanded goes up while if they’re making too many things then that means that their quantity supplied remains unchanged.”

Moving on to the next sentence..

Update: “This is not surprising as supply and demand are both measured by changes in quantities rather than absolute values” has been removed at this time, but please add it back into the text so we can continue writing sentences. It should be near paragraph three or four. Thank you! 🙂

Update: “which variable shifts the demand curve?” was added after paragraph two. Please continue to work on the next sentence.

The first thing I want you to do is identify which variable will shift the demand curve from paragraph two of this blog post. If there are any questions or comments, please use our contact form and we’ll get back as soon as possible.

Thank you! 🙂

“Some people say that an increase in price leads to a decrease in quantity demanded (the supply-demand law), while others argue that it doesn’t make any differents when we measure from suppliers’ point of view; because if they don’t have enough inventory then their quantity demanded goes up while if they’re making too many things then that means that their quantity supplied remains unchanged.” has been added after paragraph one so we can see the change in demand when there is an increase in price.

-Price of substitute goods (A)

-Income level in the market for good being sold (B)

-Number of competitors available to purchase a commodity from another source should price rise too high on current product (C)

The number of competitors. The demand curve will shift when there are more suppliers, as they can sell their products and compete with each other thus reducing the amount people would buy at any one time. This means that if someone has two choices between an apple and orange, they might only need one; however if apples were the only fruit option then they may be willing to take both or more than two because no matter what it is still cheaper than buying oranges elsewhere. More competition leads to a downward slope in the demand curve. The number of competitors leads to a downward-sloping demand curve because more suppliers mean that if someone has two choices between an apple and orange, they might only need one; however if apples were the only fruit option then they may be willing to take both or
