Guide on Selecting Storage Rack for your Storeroom or Bomb Shelter

Many of us have a storeroom in our houses. With homes increasingly becoming smaller regardless of being in a mansion, condo, or apartment complex, we are constantly in search of more storage. However, we often find ourselves falling victim to the horrendous clutter as a result of failing to adequately manage our storage space. With stuff getting piled up, storerooms and bomb shelters are prone to collecting dust and debris. It also becomes impossible to find something you’re looking for when scrambling through the disorganized clutter.

Here is your guide on how to pick the best racking system for your storeroom or bomb shelter. In this, we outline the pros and cons of each type of shelving system to aid you in selecting which type works best for you and your home!

  • Boltless Vs. Bolted racks.

The bolted racks use bolts and nuts to secure the standing leg frame to the shelves. These classic bolts and nuts will rust and become weak over time. Because they must be screwed and fastened on-site, a bolted rack takes up more staged space. Because they are difficult to deconstruct due to their installation style, more sweat is required to relocate the shelf to a different height. As a result, a growing number of rack owners are opting for an alternative.

Metal boltless racks have become increasingly popular. A boltless rack, as the name implies, does not require any specific tools to assemble. The racking system’s polished, continuous lines, together with the clean finishes, provide an appealing aesthetic. This has gained respect among suppliers for utility purposes in office buildings and commercial center storage. They are designed in a way that anyone can assemble the pieces quickly.

Boltless racks are designed for easy adjustment of the panel interval. They are most suitable for bomb shelters, homes/stores and warehouses. A bomb shelter is a structure designed to protect against the effects of a bomb. The Boltless Rack for bomb shelter, therefore, is ideal as a document-storage system.

  • The Base of Storage Rack – L-Shaped Vs. Flat-Base

There are two distinct differences in the base of the boltless rack across all household and office racks vendors in Singapore. The first is a base stand in the shape of an L, as seen in the picture. The base, as the term suggests, has an ’L’-shaped surface area, with the entire weight of the shelves resting on the perpendicular framework. The impact of the heavy-duty weight of shelves may create marks on your floor over time. Most merchants will include a rubber cap to protect your purchase from harm.

The Flat Base Stand is the second type. These flat bases will support the weight of the shelves, protect your tiles from cuts, and look great in your newly refurbished home.

  • Keyhole Hinges Vs. Boltless Rack with Butterfly Hinges

Boltless storage racks come in a variety of styles. The hinges on them differ. Keyhole and Butterfly grooves are the two types of boltless rack hinges. The Butterfly hinges have 3cm deep grooves, whereas the Keyhole hinges have 1.5cm deep grooves.

With the Keyhole grooves, it needs more than one layer of shelves to keep it together and heavier things to lay it down securely. Because of the shorter grooves, it may be simple to collapse upon hitting the shelf.

The Butterfly hinge has larger grooves that give more stability for the entire construction and ensure that the horizontal frame stays attached without coming apart.

  • Straight Leg Frame Vs. Z-Welded Leg Frame

Another option to consider would be the type of shelves and legs of these racks. Two types of leg frames support the complete structure of the shelves on the market: Z Welded Leg frame and Straight Leg frame. It is important to note that the Straight Leg structure is made up of four independent beams, therefore, you will need to stack more shelves on top of one another to keep it stable.

At both the top and bottom of the frame, the Z Leg incorporates double welding. On its own, it’s quite sturdy. Only one shelving panel is required to fasten the entire structure and connect both sides of the legs.

If your storage area contains baggage and large objects, you can leave the bottom open. You can also leave the middle of the shelf empty to store such objects and add 2 to 3 more shelves from the middle to the top for additional storage.
