Hellraiser is a series of novels by Stephen King that is based on the famous horror movie of the same name. It is a series of novels that take the form of graphic novels and feature King’s own art, with each book starting out as a novella, but the series became a full-length book when the third book was released.
The latest book in the series, Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth, is currently available for pre-order on the Amazon Kindle. A preview of the book has even been released on YouTube as well.
Hellraiser III Hell on Earth was released in May of 2010, and it was a huge hit, selling over 7 million copies in its first thirty days alone. Even the trailer for it, which features a hellish battle against undead monsters in a cave, is very well done. The first book in the series, Hellraiser II The Hellbound Heart, was released in September of 1992. The second book, Hellraiser III The Hellbound Heart, was released in July of 1994.
Like the first two books, the third book is set in the world of Hell. The titular character, Hellraiser, is a mad scientist who has his own brand of “Hellrazer” technology. Hellraiser III has its own unique setting, with a group of characters from previous books. It’s a story that has the classic “haunting” elements, but it’s also a story about the struggle to stop the Hellrazer from achieving its evil goals.
Hellraiser III is what many of us assumed to be the end of the story of the first two books. Not so. Hellraiser III is the start of a new story arc, the story of a young Hellraiser, Colt Vahn, who wakes up on a beach with no memory of his past. We then meet another Hellraiser called the Elder, who is an old friend of Colt’s who is also trying to stop the Hellrazer from achieving its dark goals.
The Elder is the main character of the third book, which explains how the Hellrazer’s goals come to be, and why they’ve had such an impact in the first two books. The Elder is something of a legend in his own right, and has even been a member of the Hellraisers since its inception. Now he’s trying to keep the Hellrazer from achieving its evil goals, and he has a plan to stop them.
Hellraiser books 1-2 and Deathloop are the kind of books you can read in one night, or maybe even in four or five if you’re really into the storyline. But I would say that Deathloop is more of an adult book, and definitely on the darker side. It’s a lot more violent, and its tone is more mature. Deathloop is also much more about the characters than its world-building, and its themes are more philosophical and abstract.
But I must admit I have read quite a few “Hellrazer” novels before Deathloop and they have all been good. Of course, I have read many of them in the past, but I’m not sure I’ve actually been able to put them down. I think the most memorable ones I’ve read have been 1 and 2, both of which were by Jim Butcher, a.k.a. Jack Vance.
In other words, I am still on the fence about Hellrazer. This is because, as I said above, the tone of the game is more philosophical and abstract. I don’t think it’s a game for everyone, but many players may find it to their liking. But I think it’s very easy to get bored with this RPG because its more about philosophical ideas and abstract concepts than its gameplay.
And I don’t think the game is for everyone. But I think for some players, its a game that could be very effective or very enjoyable. I think I would like to see the game continue to unfold, and hopefully it will.
