Opioids are a class of drugs that bind to opioid receptors in the body and brain. Opioid abuse is on the rise, but it’s not always easy for people to tell how strong an opioid is by looking at its name. It’s also difficult to know which one will have the least side effects or give you the best high. In this blog post, I’m going to list opioids from strongest (opiates) down to weakest (papaverine).
The following is a list of the strongest to weakest opiates. The most potent substances on this list are called “opiates” and produce euphoric effects that can be very dangerous when misused. On the other side of the spectrum are paregoric or papaverine which aren’t addictive but don’t provide much pain relief at all. These drugs have limited medicinal uses besides treatment for diarrhea (e.g., codeine) and cough suppression (e.g., morphine). This blog post will focus primarily on opioid addiction, abuse, and risks rather than their medical implications in treating chronic conditions like asthma or irritable bowel syndrome where they may play more substantial roles as analgesics with fewer side effects.
– Opiates – this is the most potent and addictive drug on this list and often seen as illegal drugs like heroin, morphine, codeine or oxycodone. They produce euphoric sensation that can be dangerous when misused because you risk developing addiction quickly without realizing it. Those with a history of mental illness are at an even higher risk for abuse due to their increased impulsivity or inability to cope effectively with negative emotions such as depression or anxiety; these symptoms are common in those with chronic pain disorders too which often leads them down a path of self-destruction where they believe opiate use will fix whatever internal problems plague them. This isn’t true! It’s a myth perpetuated by marketing campaigns designed to sell more drugs.
Opiate addiction is a real thing and it’s important for us to be knowledgeable about which opioids are the strongest so we can keep ourselves safe from harm when taking them as prescribed by our doctors or in case of an emergency like someone overdosing with opiates on site where you work, have contact with children that attend your school, live around drug dealers who sell heroin or fentanyl (at least 98% of these drugs are cut) or just living life as normal while keeping yourself informed enough to know what could happen if you misuse opioid pain relievers. We want people to be able to make educated decisions before they put themselves at risk unnecessarily. Below is a list of most common types of opiates ranked by strength:

Codeine – 60-300 milligrams per pill, opioid drug that is less addictive than hydrocodone but can still be dangerous without a prescription and should never be taken with other opiates in the same day.
