A lot of people get confused when they first start using Mod Organizer (MO) because they see no game data on top level folders in MO. Today, I will be talking about how to fix this issue!

If you have recently installed a lot of mods through the Steam Workshop or Nexus and have been having trouble figuring out which one is causing this problem, just open up your mod manager and go to Options by clicking “Mod Settings.” Find “Steam” or “Nexus,” click Search for all subscribed content from these providers, then provide them as sources for installation so that you can download the necessary information. If you’re still not sure who might be causing the issue, don’t worry–I’ll cover some other problems with MO soon too! 🙂

Steps to Fix the Game Data is on Top Level Problem:

– Open up Mod Organizer.

– Click “Mod Settings” at the top of the window and select “Steam” or “Nexus.” If you have subscribed content from both sources, click Search for all subscribed content from these providers in order to get information about your game data folder location. Once it’s found, provide those locations as installation options in MO so that you can download your necessary game information.

It is quite common nowadays for people to run into a problem where their mod organizer no game data on top level error pops up because they forget to install their game to the correct location.

If you’re not sure what the problem is, all you have to do is follow these steps:

Plug in your USB or insert disk into your computer and open up MO’s window by clicking on it from either: “Steam” tab (top left) under Games section of Mo window; or Nexus tab (bottom right) listed as “Nexus Mods.” If you’ve subscribed content from both providers click Search for All Subscribed Content From These Providers in order to get information about where your Game Data folder location might be. Once it’s found provide those locations as installation options in MO so that you can download necessary game data associated with games installed there. You may need help from someone with more experience if you’re not able to find your Game Data files. You may need assistance from a Mod Author’s Comment Board or Discord Channel as well.

After this, open up the game in question and make sure its data is intact by checking for any errors that might be shown after loading into the game world. If there are none then congratulations! Your problem should have been solved but it never hurts to check back on these steps just to make sure everything matches up so you don’t end up having another issue down the line – which at that point will be much harder to fix.”
