I love piano lessons, but for some reason I am always frustrated by the lack of piano books. They seem to be all over the place and not really helpful for all the information that is available on the internet. It’s not that I don’t want to learn piano, but I would rather get a book that has the basics of the piano, plus the more advanced stuff.
As it turns out, there are at least five piano books out there that have been written by one guy and are not available anywhere else. But there are also a couple that have been written by a woman and are available for free online. Which one is your favorite is entirely up to you.
I love the free online piano books for a couple of reasons. The first is just because they are available. I like the fact that you can find them anywhere. You can find them by browsing through the many free piano books on the internet. The second reason is that the piano books are usually written by a woman so sometimes I feel like I can’t help but think that they are written by a woman and not just a dude.
When I was in high school, the only way I could ever imagine learning piano was by reading books about it. For me, the problem was that I was quite a bit older than most women and so I always thought that learning piano was something that only the “cool” guys had to do. When I was in college I was amazed by the fact that there were many people in the music world who liked to take some of the finer details of playing it seriously.
For example, one of my favorite piano lessons books is The Big Book of Piano Lessons by Dorothy Parker. It’s a collection of piano and accompaniment music for students ranging from five to seventy-two years old. As I read through the book, I also found a lot of the music in it to be pretty silly. For example, I thought that the piano music in the book would be perfect for a piano recital, but I was wrong.
I read that the music in The Big Book of Piano Lessons is intended to evoke a sense of wonder and awe in the listener. For example, it describes the piano as a “magical instrument” and that it can “play all its notes at once”. It also makes a point that the music in the book is intended to be listened to after a meal or while having a game of cards or watching television.
