A fan clutch is a part of an automobile engine that engages and disengages the power takeoff to the radiator cooling fan. The purpose of this system is to keep the engine from over heating, which can cause damage. When it’s cold outside you might ask yourself if your car’s fan clutch should spin freely when it’s cold out?
Is there any reason why your vehicle would not engage its fan clutch in colder weather? Yes! There are a few reasons why, but one of them could be because of a fault with your car battery or alternator. Both these things will need to be replaced before your car will start up again in colder temperatures. If you have a question about why your car’s fan clutch is not spinning freely when it’s cold outside, feel free to contact us and we will get back to you.
In conclusion: If the engine bay of your vehicle has any sign of frost or ice on it then this could be an indication that there may be some issues with the battery or alternator which would cause the fan clutch system to fail. The most important parts for keeping your vehicle safe in these conditions are getting enough gas and having properly working headlights so please take care of them before venturing out into colder weather!

The first thing under Fan Clutch Point will explain why sometimes they won’t spin when cold : “It’s not always possible to get enough airflow through a radiator or condenser with a fan clutch.”
The next thing under Fan Clutch Point will explain how to tell if you have a blown fan clutch : “A blown fan clutch is most likely caused by the lack of airflow. It can also be due to too much air flow, which damages the parts that the air passes over.”
Finally, we’ll discuss what happens when your car has overheated: “If this occurs and your cooling fans are still not working after blowing cold air into your engine compartment, then it’s possible that something else might have gone wrong with them or their wiring – such as being shorted out from debris in the area.”
