Voldo’s weapon of choice is a pair of long, curved blades. He can also use his claws in combat, and he often uses these if his opponent blocks two or three consecutive attacks with the swords. In Soulcalibur II and IV, Voldo has an alternate costume that features him wearing only one blade on each hand instead of both blades on the same side (e.g., right). His fighting style revolves around speed and agility, and he is one of the fastest characters in the series.
From this he must take into consideration how much damage an attack will inflict as well as its range.
This can be seen during several stages where striking too often or not attacking at all would lead to him being killed by his opponent’s counter-attack. As such, it is necessary for players to learn about their opponents’ timing so they can avoid incoming attacks while maintaining offensive pressure on them–a challenging process considering each character also possesses different strengths and weaknesses depending on what weapon they are wielding at any given time (e.g., speed against strength).
