summer after high school when we first met

I was sitting on a bench in the park, thinking about my summer plans. I had graduated high school and now it was time to find real work. My parents were supportive of me moving out on my own and getting an apartment with one of my friends from school. It was hard for them knowing that their only daughter would be so far away but they knew this is what I wanted.

What really surprised me though was when Steve came up to me and said “Hi.” We hadn’t seen each other since middle school and we didn’t know each other that well back then either but he had just moved here from California too because his dad got transferred over there for work..

I knew at the time it would be a great summer with him, my best friend Heather (who has been by my side through everything) and all of my favorite places in the city like Central Park or Coney Island..

Next sentences:

For me, New York City will always be a bright spot in my life that I’ll never forget. It was the first place we lived as newlyweds when Steve got his first job out of college and it is where our three kids were born too. The city has changed so much over time but there are still some places like Central Park or Coney Island that have stayed with us through everything. And now as adults raising children together, I still love exploring new parts of town to share with them. They get excited about all the different things they see on their walks-the way people dress or what kind of food smells wafting from restaurants down the block..

Every day feels like an adventure here.

The city is constantly changing and I’m always eager to see what’s around the next corner or who we may run into on our way home from work! Some of my favorite memories are just wandering through new neighborhoods together admiring architecture, stopping for a sweet treat at some local shop, or having breakfast in Central Park with one of my best friends before she heads back overseas again.

I can’t imagine living anywhere else now that we’re all grown up-this big sprawling metropolis has become as much a part of me as it is them. And no matter how many times they ask me which neighborhood we live in, every time I’ll still say “New York City!” when asked where home is.

Some of our favorite places:

The best bagels in the city at Absolute Bagel on the Upper West Side. The owner, Mark, is always happy to see us and makes sure we’re taken care of!

A walk along the High Line from Gansevoort Street up to 14th Street and back again for a little bit longer than originally planned because it’s just so beautiful there with all those flowers blooming everywhere you turn your head. I think that may be my very favorite thing about this time of year; how vibrant everything feels when summer finally starts to roll around. It’s like New York City has gotten cleaned by spring rain after being dark and dreary all winter long..you can just feel the love in the air!

The amazing iced coffee at Dunwell Doughnuts on Houston Street, made with local cold brew that they grind themselves. They also have a great selection of vegan donuts if you’re looking for something beyond your average sugared pastry.

A stroll through Central Park–our favorite time is one hour before sunset when there are just enough people to make it interesting but not so many that you can’t get lost in all of nature’s beauty. You could say we enjoy these walks for more than one reason..haha 😉

Bemoaning our lack of beach and surf culture here in NYC, I’m going to outline some ideas about what summertime might look like as an alternative.

In the middle of Manhattan, there’s a fountain in Bryant Park that is surrounded by trees and plants to make it feel like you’re somewhere else entirely–it was way more beautiful than I imagined! It also makes for a great spot to people watch or just relax on one of their many benches while soaking up some sun if you don’t want to be outdoors all day.

Check out Brooklyn Bridge Park which spans over 700 acres with hundreds of activities from fishing at Pier One to running along the Promenade overlooking New York Harbor (you can even rent bikes!). They have an indoor ice skating rink too if you need something cool and refreshing after being outside all morning. There are plenty of food options here as well and lots of space to stretch your legs and explore.

Walk through Central Park.. especially during the fall when they string orange lights up all over the trees, giving it a really magical feeling–it’s almost like you’re in another world! It’s so pretty too but I wouldn’t recommend walking around at night because there are way less people out then which opens you up for more criminal activity.

For some great food (I had one of my favorite meals ever here) head on down to Del Posto. You’ll need reservations well in advance though since this is a very popular restaurant that generally fills up right away with tourists and locals alike unlucky enough not to have booked ahead of time! Even if you don’t make a reservation, it’s worth stopping in to see the inside of this amazing restaurant.

Catch a Broadway show if you’re into that kind of thing–I’m not so I can’t really recommend one but from what my friends tell me they’re all pretty fantastic! There are plenty of shows going on every day and night with something for everyone no matter your taste. They also have tours available as well which is an easy way to get acquainted with the city without having to do any research or work at all before hand 🙂

Head over to Chelsea Market early morning when there aren’t many people around yet (or after dinner) because otherwise you’ll be jammed up shoulder-to-shoulder trying to weave through crowds of people. Chelsea Market is a great spot to grab some breakfast and lunch before wandering around the city, or if you’ve got time head over there in the evening for dinner as well! -Lots of places offer food tours so check out their list on their website – it’ll tell you what kind of cuisine they cover and where they take place. I would recommend checking one that goes through Chinatown because while it’s not located right next to everything else, it has lots of tiny restaurants with cheap eats (you can get two servings at $0.75 each!) Update: There are also plenty more high end dining options there too if you’re looking for something fancier 🙂 The first thing most tourists do when arriving in NYC
