usf4 tier list

This is a list of the best and worst characters in Ultra Street Fighter IV. The “best” are followed by their corresponding number ranking, while those ranked as “worst” come after theirs. It should be noted that these rankings are subjective and based on personal preference more than anything else, so take them with a grain of salt. That being said, it’s hard to deny that some fighters stand out from even the rest of this strong cast; for example, who could forget Sagat? Though he was only second-tier at first release, his long time away from the spotlight has done wonders for him!

The Best:

* SAGAT .. (14) He may not have won any tournaments, but he’s a very strong character and is relatively easy to learn.

* EVIL RYU .. (12) He may be the most difficult character in the game, but if you can figure out how to use him then he’ll reward your efforts with some of the best combos there are!

* MORRIGAN .. (11) Morrigan has always been powerful as far back as Street Fighter II: Third Strike, so it should come as no surprise that she would still hold her own all these years later. She might not have any projectiles outside of her Soul Fist or Dark Hole moves, though they’re both highly useful for setting up other assaults on an opponent who doesn’t know what they’re doing defensively.

* RYU .. (11) Ryu is the most iconic character of all time and with good reason. He’s quick, agile, has a lot of powerful moves that can be pulled off quickly one after another to dish out big damage, he doesn’t have any projectiles so it forces him to keep up on his feet or get in close which opens up new opportunities for opponents looking to counterattack.. not mention being at such a high rank makes him an obvious target to focus on when playing against someone else who also knows what they’re doing.

* GEN .. (11) Gen might seem like just another grappler but he has some excellent pokes that allow him to stand toe-to-toe with other characters as well as a good pressure game from the ground.

* CODY .. (12) Cody is actually a really versatile character with some devastating moves like his “soul spark” and stomps which make him excellent for close-up play, but he has decent range as well if you want to keep your distance so that might give players who are less interested in getting into mixups something to work with. He’s also got one of the best anti-air normals in all of SFIV: crouching fierce punch.. it does pretty hefty damage too and gives him just enough time to land another attack afterwords, though both have long recovery times so they’re not practical on wakeup against someone looking to counterattack.

* ROLENTO .. (15) The one-eyed pirate may not be the most well rounded character in fighting game history but he’s got a lot of tools to play around with. He can throw knives, do huge damage from his “bazooka” attack if you hit them just right and use his grappling hook for some tricky crossups as well. It’s actually Rolento who has the best anti-air move in Ultra Street Fighter IV: crouching forward kick.. it even looks cool when it connects!

* KEN .. (14) Ken is an old school favorite thanks to him having some really good all around moves like jumping fierce punch which hits twice and knocks down on hit or block while also being able to do a huge combo with his hurricane kick.

* FANG .. (11) Fang is an interesting character because she’s probably the lowest on this list without even being that bad and yet it’s just hard to recommend her when there are so many better characters in Ultra Street Fighter IV like Elena for example.. not to mention all of those great fireball characters!

ROLENTO .. 15 .. 14th best, Ken .. 18 .. 11th worst, Zangief .. 12 .. very low rank but still way too high up towards the top than he should be., Sakura .. 16 .. 20th best.

* BEST .. Zangief .. 12th best, Guile .. 19th best. Worst: Akuma (13) ranks as the worst character in Ultra Street Fighter IV because he’s so easy to get a perfect on with his fireball game and his moveset is way too linear for today’s fighting games., Sakura (16) ranks as the 20th worst because she has no good ways of getting around projectiles which backfired horribly against players like Ryu who can keep shooting them down while blocking most of her other attacks.. not to mention that some people just don’t play well with this girl at all!
