Horses are fascinating animals that provide entertainment as well as companionship – an animal’s soulmate with clean air, fresh water, shelter from bad weather conditions and protection from predators while providing themselves exercise every day through walking or trotting around in circles. They have evolved over time into today’s most beautiful creatures who race against each mile after mile at astonishing speeds reaching up to 40 miles per hour (and they can do this for hours). They are amazingly strong creatures and their stride is graceful.

To be successful at this game horses need a good trainer-a horse whisperer of sorts–to teach them to focus on the track and not be distracted by distractions in the environment. They also need a jockey with excellent skill at timing their moves, listening for sounds from other horses so they can stay in rhythm, knowing when to speed up or slow down based on which horse is ahead of them, using body language–bending over outstretched hands as if touching noses-to get through any obstacles that might lie before them. When the horses hit the final straight line of the track, they are so near to each other that it is impossible for a human eye to distinguish one horse from another. It’s not by chance or sheer luck which animal crosses first at this time. The judges have been watching all along and make their decisions accordingly–just as in any sport or game with rules. And because racing has always had an element of gambling involved, there may be some winners and losers on both sides of what is essentially a very high-stakes game. In fact if you want your money to win big–and I am sure everyone does!–then do two things: watch who wins (the drinker) and place bets before going into work tomorrow
