When parking near a corner, you may park your vehicle no closer than the intersection’s curb line. Parking your vehicle too close to the corner will make it difficult for other drivers to see around your car and could cause traffic accidents. This blog post is going give you 8 rules on how to properly park when near a corner and avoid any hazardous situations.

Block the Way: When parking near a corner, make sure you park in such a way that there is room for other drivers to pass through and avoid any hazardous situations.

*If your vehicle’s width or length exceeds 12 feet*, it must be parked on an angle with at least one tire touching the curb. This will prevent anyone from eve passing by. If this is not possible because of limited space, vehicles exceeding 12 feet may also park perpendicular to traffic flow if they are continuously visible within 11 inches past their front bumper; and where there are no fixed objects (e.g., fire hydrants) that would obstruct visibility around either side of the vehicle even after its rear tires have passed over them.

If your vehicle’s width or length is less than 12 feet*, you may park on an angle with both tires touching the curb.

*If you are parking parallel to traffic flow*, make sure that at least one of your front wheels touches the curb and keep in mind other drivers will be approaching from behind; so, it is important not to block their line of sight by positioning yourself too close to a fixed object (e.g., fire hydrant).

If you are parking perpendicular to traffic flow*, there should be enough space for another driver coming up from behind to pass on your right side.

Do not park within three feet of another vehicle or if there is only enough space for cars going straight through the intersection.* If parked perpendicular, do not park closer than 18 inches away from any car coming up from behind.*

Keep an eye out for pedestrians! You should have no less than two feet separation between your vehicle and sidewalks, bus stops or crosswalks.

Finally, if you are parked on a hill and the slope of that roadway is more than four percent, your vehicle should be angled with its front end lower than its back end to keep it from rolling away.* If possible, use wheel chocks or other appropriate devices during periods when parking brake cannot hold vehicle in place.

The driver should never park their car facing downhill while trying to exit as this can cause them to roll backwards and injure themselves. It’s also important for drivers not to block any bus stop zones with their vehicles or they could face hefty fines! While there are many rules for when parking near a corner – these eight will help make sure you’re doing everything right so no one has an accident*.
