There’s no one right answer. It depends on what you want your company or building to accomplish with its communication infrastructure. Generally speaking, it’s possible to string cable around corners without any loss of speed up until 100 meters (328 feet) and even then there isn’t much difference in performance relative to shorter distances with faster speeds; distance becomes an issue after 200-300 meters (656-98.43 feet).

When designing horizontal cabling system, it is important to take the distance from server room and location of devices into account.
Cables should be no more than 100 meters long, or 328 feet for a standard installation. This rule applies regardless of whether you are using an unshielded twisted pair cable (UTP) or shielded twisted pair cable (STP).
This maximum allowable distance is approximately 30% longer if you use STP cables instead of UTP cables. It’s approximatly 50% shorter with both types if you install them in conduit rather than without it.
If your building layout requires running the cabling at lengths greater then these distances, please consult with our experts on what could work best for each situation! ~~continue writing long form content~~
