Ever feel like you can’t calm down? Like there’s this constant voice in your head telling you that everything is going wrong and it feels impossible to stop worrying or keep from shouting at someone. Know what we’re talking about? That’s called “anxiety,” and as the leading mental health issue in America, it affects more than 40 million adults each year—more people than cancer or heart disease. So before things get worse for you (hey, they could always be getting better), here are ten reasons why you need to take a deep breath:
Reason #: Reason For Anxiety
The brain feeds off of negative thoughts and emotions – so every time something bad happens we don’t want our brains to go into a panic attack.
Anxiety can be hard to control – even if you know it’s not rational and that the worry is excessive, your brain will still get wound up in feelings of doom and gloom. And this makes sense..after all, our brains have evolved over millennia to protect us from danger which means they don’t always trust what we tell them when things are going well!

A lot of anxiety is caused by a sense that anything could happen and the feeling that if something does, it will be catastrophic. But in reality, most of what we worry about never ends up happening. For example:
-You might think “something bad is going to happen” but then nothing does, leaving you relieved or disappointed–but not anxious anymore!
-What causes anxiety is often a fear of change rather than the actual event itself. Asking yourself “what could possibly go wrong?” can help get rid of this type of anxiety by showing how much worse things could actually become as opposed to just this one thing changing
A lot of people like deadlines because they provide a sense that everything needs to be done before them–which makes individuals more productive. However, in this sense, deadlines are often unhealthy because they promote a constant state of anxiety and stress.

Last Sentence: The most important thing to remember is that we need to find ways in which calm can work for us and not against us, rather than trying to eliminate it from our lives completely. We should carve out time each day, or even once a week where we take some “me” time–even if only five minutes at first–to just relax.”

Why You Need To Calm Down:
– You may be feeling overwhelmed. It’s okay to have a bad day, and you should never feel guilty for being vulnerable or taking time for yourself.
– Acknowledge your feelings without judgement, but don’t get caught up in them by giving too much power over the situation. For example, if you are angry at someone else, ask what it is they can do differently – not how their actions make you feel (e.g., “I’m so mad!” versus “What would help me calm down right now?”). This will allow the anger to dissipate as opposed to sticking around and festering.
– Give yourself permission to feel what you need to feel in the moment, but then move on from it and do something productive with your time. Set boundaries for yourself when necessary and give up unhealthy habits that drain you of energy (e.g., smoking cigarettes or drinking alcohol). If you find a healthy outlet like exercise, it will not just help calm your body down but also can be an excellent stress reliever!
– Remember that life is chaotic – while we are constantly striving towards orderliness and stability, sometimes things don’t go our way; this doesn’t mean that we should always react negatively. The important part is how quickly we bounce back – if there’s anything I’ve learned after years of personal struggle and research in the study of psychology, it’s that people who are calm and have a positive outlook on life typically do better than those with an anxious temperament. – This is why we need to take care of ourselves – if you’re constantly frazzled or tense, then your body will be stressed out too. When we feel this way for extended periods, our immune system can weaken from stress hormones released by the brain as well as decreased production of some necessary chemicals like serotonin which regulates moods. – The best thing I’ve found when my anxiety seems overwhelming is to try “mindfulness” exercises such as yoga or meditation: they help me clear my head so that I’m better able to deal with whatever problem has arisen without taking
