Not only do these traits enable blood flow but also provide protection against high pressure from ruptured vessels or blockage because veins are too thin to handle large amounts of force (i).e., hypertension). Blood vessels are resistant yet flexible so that “blood can circulate without being compressed” when moving through the body.

There’s no shortcut to a long, healthy life.

It takes work and commitment. It requires discipline. And it always starts with what you put in your mouth each day (or at least most days). Food is fuel for the body and should be treated that way! So think about those choices you make every single morning: cereal or oatmeal? Glass of juice or coffee? Frozen yogurt or banana? Bagel with cream cheese or protein shake without dairy products? Eggs over easy, scrambled, poached, hard-boiled…no matter which one you choose there will be an impact on how much energy..and even weight loss ..you see from this meal alone. The same applies when lunchtime rolls around only then the choices you’re making are even more important because they’ll be with you for the next five hours. Which means that if an afternoon snack is in your future, it’s crucial to make a smart decision about what and when!

We all know how much of a difference eating right can do ..because we’ve seen (and felt) it firsthand many times before. Continuously fueling up on junk food will only leave us feeling bloated, sluggish, and unmotivated– not so great qualities to have during any time of day let alone at work or while out running errands with kids. But now imagine this scenario: instead of choosing something high-sugar like cookies or chips from the vending machine as our after-school pick me up, we instead chose baby carrots and hummus.

Wouldn’t that be a pleasant surprise for both our taste buds and waistline? And even better yet– it’ll make us feel healthier too! When you choose to eat right ..you’re also helping your body function at its best so all systems are go when morning comes around again.

The wonderful thing about living in today’s world is that health knowledge has never been more accessible than with just an internet connection away ..saving time on doctor appointments, medical books (they’re heavy!), and even money. The best way to support your heart is by eating a healthy diet that will also help you maintain a healthy weight, lower your risk of diabetes, promote cardiovascular health ..and so much more!

It’s not too late to make changes in the direction towards bettering our overall health (think about it– if we don’t change now, what are we waiting for?). We can start with one small step: try some baby carrots and hummus tonight. They’re delicious AND nutritious; where else could you get such an amazing deal?
