I want to start off by saying that I’m not suggesting this as a way for someone who’s been mistreated or abused to handle their situation because what they need are resources like counseling services and legal aid. If you’re experiencing abuse from your partner then please find help ASAP so that he never hurts anyone else ever again.

For those of you who aren’t being abused but have found yourself on the other end with an “unlovable” person, let me give it my best shot at trying to make sense of all this craziness for you.

In the retelling of my story to you, I also want to provide some resources that might have helped me if I had access to them earlier. None of this is meant in a “you should” or “shouldn’t” way but as something for your consideration and what worked (or didn’t) for me.
