My husband recently told me that I could edit his books. I asked him what he meant, and he said he was talking about his children’s books. I asked him why that was so important, and he said that he couldn’t just hand them over to his children’s editors and expect them to do their work.
So this is actually true. Childrens books are written by authors and they can be edited. Its called an “editing process”. Many kids books are now available online, and there are many places you can find your own childs editors to edit your childrens books.
This is a good lesson for all of us who teach children. We need to be aware of how we interact with children and how their behaviors are influenced by what we do. What we do is often passed down to them by the adults around us. This is a good lesson to learn for adults too.
Reading is a very powerful form of communication. It brings a child to the book’s page, where they can see the book, hear the story, and perhaps even touch the book. Books and stories are the most powerful way to teach a child to read, so you can’t do a bad job when editing. There are many resources online to help a child get started, and to help them continue to learn with you. There are many places to find a child’s editor.
One of my favorite sites is the book-editing.com site. Their site focuses on helping adult book editors and writers get started. It’s a very interesting source of information, and can be a really fun way to learn editing for kids. I don’t know about you, but I really need to edit my own kids’ books. For instance, I recently edited the first book in the Dragon’s Lair series. It turned out pretty good, and I found that I really like the way the original illustrator, Andrew Smith, worked on the book. That, in itself, was probably a good thing.
Yes, he did an awesome job, but he also started the whole series on the wrong foot. It was too long and didn’t make the reader’s experience feel special. I would have preferred if Andrew had chosen to start the series with the dragon slayers, before continuing with the rest of the characters, and instead showing how the dragon slayers became friends with the kids who wrote the books.
This was actually a good thing, because it shows how the original illustrator was able to create the characters in the books and still incorporate the emotions from the story into the books. It also shows that he was willing to take the time to do it.
A common complaint among children’s book authors is that they’re too busy to write the books that children want to read, and they end up with a bunch of books that are just like the kids are. I think this is mostly true of the children’s book industry, but in the case of some of the most talented illustrators, it’s also true of their ability to create a style and theme for a book that appeals to kids.
