*I want to be careful with my conclusions because there is a big question that I hadn’t thought about before reading this article. Is it ethical to GIF someone’s experience without their consent? What if you are just documenting something funny or cool happening in front of you but then later on find out that person was harassed or assaulted? How would they feel about having those events stored somewhere online where anyone can see them again even though it happened years ago? This makes me think back to how much time people spend crafting these perfect pictures and tweets for social media. It forces us as creators/consumers of content online not only worry about what’s appropriate to share, but also what’s ethical to share.
