Soul Calibur VI is one of the most anticipated fighting games in recent memory. The sixth game in the series, it’s a return to form for Soul Calibur after a few years off from console releases. After spending some time with it, I’ve got some thoughts on what’s new and how old moves have been updated. Here are my thoughts on Soul Calibur VI!

* The New Guard Break System is not only better, but easier to execute. It’s a two-step process now: press attack button while guarding and then push the direction of your opponent as you release the guard break. This means that it doesn’t matter if you have good timing or bad – as long as you keep pushing in the correct direction, you’ll be able to get through even some of the trickiest opponents’ defenses.

* The new Critical Edge system allows for more moves with higher stakes than ever before! These are powerful special attacks that can turn battles around quickly. To use them, hold down all three face buttons (LK+MK+HK) at once until they fill up completely and release on time be executed by pressing HP+HK together, and they have a variety of different uses.

* Old moves like Seetah’s Elephant Stomp are back with an updated look! These classic attacks were removed from the game in Soul Calibur IV to make way for new ones, but they’re all here again and looking better than ever. The same is true of other classics such as Ivy’s Choke Sleeper or Taki’s Kagerou-no-Ken attack (which has been renamed Shuriken-no-Ken).

Otherwise, you’ll find some newer additions that many players will be very excited about.. including Kilik – who can now use his trademark move: the Demon Bear! This was one of my favorite parts of Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny, and I’m so glad to see it make a comeback.

* Located under the “Libra of Souls” section – which is basically your games’ menu for all things like customizing characters or managing your inventory – you’ll find a new mode called Libra Challenge. This was (in my opinion) one of the most exciting features in SCVI at E-Sports World Convention 2018; just think about how cool this will be when everyone gets their hands on it! You can set up challenges that test players with various stipulations such as not being able to use certain moves or weapons, using only specific items in battle, having low health points from the start without even attacking an opponent first, and more.

* This mode is essentially a practice area for players to try out different tactics in Libra of Souls, then test them against their friends or the AI before taking on opponents online! It’s also great as it can help newcomers learn about all the weapons available in Soul Calibur VI without feeling overwhelmed by having to go through hours of tutorials first. I wish they had something like this back when SCIV was released..or even better yet, make it an option at the start menu so that anyone who wants to play with “Libra Challenge” set will be able to do just that (as opposed to making you search for it). Either way though, this new addition should prove incredibly popular once people are given access toor even better yet, make it an option at the start menu so that anyone who wants to play with “Libra Challenge” set will be able to do just that (as opposed to making you search for it).
