Include one paragraph about why reading aloud can be helpful during an academic session focusing on literacy skills development or when teaching students how to read fluently.
There has been research published by Schiefelbein et al. (2010) that supports the efficacy of reading aloud with a student. They suggest by doing this, it can foster language and literacy skills development as well as increase motivation for academic success in general.
I love to read my daughter bedtime stories because I enjoy watching her eyes grow sleepy and she snuggles up against me while listening intently to my voice tell another fictional story about dragons or princesses or flying unicorns! Reading aloud is one way we bond together nightly before turning off the light so she can fall asleep peacefully dreaming of faraway places filled with magic and adventure!

Long-form content: My Personal Memories of Winter, Past and Present
My personal memories are made up of images from my childhood in New England as well as scenes from living in a foreign country for an extended period while working on a documentary film project. A lot has changed since I boarded the plane at Logan Airport headed to Johannesburg! There were no cell phones then; just writing letters home when we had time off or occasionally making calls through international operator satellites which sounded like bad connections coming through static speakers — sometimes accompanied by spotty reception so you couldn’t make out what was being said, not even if they could hear your voice clearly enough to understand who is calling them.
So, what did my family listen to for Christmas music? I can remember the strains of “White Christmas” by Bing Crosby coming from an old phonograph player. There were lots of choruses in Latin and English that we sang around a piano or organ at church or with our friends on holidays like Advent. Sometimes there was just silence as we imagined the Nativity Scene (with St Francis Church’s beautiful Pieta) while listening to sleigh bells ring out during winter snowfalls and watching fresh flakes drift down outside onto Main Street windowsills; some New Englanders still believe they have seen Santa Claus fly overhead!
And then there are all those non-traditional tunes sung by Dr. Seuss’ Grinch, James Taylor, Burl Ives’ “Holly Jolly Christmas” and Al Green’s soulful version of the traditional carol “Mary Did You Know?”
We hope you enjoy these selections that capture some of the spirit of this wonderful season!
