when i was in the third grade

If you’re like me, then the third grade was a time filled with memories and tidbits of knowledge. As I look back on my year in Mrs. B’s class, I can’t help but smile at all of the fun times we had together. This blog post is about 3rd grade memories – what they were like for me, and how to try to recreate them with your own kids!

What were some of my favorite memories from third grade?

Building forts out of chairs and desks in the classroom. We’d get to choose our “jobs” for this activity – I was always a lookout, so that no one would sneak up on us while we were working!

Making ice cream sundaes with Mrs. B every Friday afternoon after lunch. They’re delicious even when they melt! And she gave you extra whipped cream if your hand was clean enough – which mine usually wasn’t. But it didn’t matter because I loved eating them anyway (even though that meant getting more than just a little sticky!)

Learning how to read simple words like cat or hat off flashcards during independent reading time. Mrs. S would always make me read a word out loud, and then she’d say it back to see if I said it right – which of course I did!

Playing outside during recess with my friends (especially playing tag). We were allowed to go inside when it was raining or too cold, but we usually just got wet and went home after school anyways. And sometimes the whole class had to stay in because there wasn’t enough room for everyone at our table on the playground when it rained – but that never made us stop running around trying not to get caught while looking for someone else who was also “it”!

Today’s lesson is about making ice cream sundaes with your kids: here are some of the ingredients you’ll need as well as a couple of recipes to try.

Ice cream (you can mix flavors or choose one)

Sprinkles, nuts, whipped cream, chocolate sauce topping – there are many different toppings that will bring this experience up another level! Along with sprinkles and nuts I like adding graham crackers for crunchy texture and marshmallows for sweetness. Chocolate syrup is also good on top because it’s so sweet but not overpowering in flavor. And if your child has any allergies just skip those toppings altogether! You could also use things like sprinkles instead of ice cream or make a fun sundae salad by layering all sorts of yummy food items from vegetables to fruit to even meat.

If you want to get really creative you can add brightly colored marshmallows and rainbow sprinkles for a fun touch.

Apple slices, blackberries, blueberries – I find that the fruit is what makes this salad so refreshing. It’s not too sweet or tart but just enough of both flavors to balance out all the sweetness from the other ingredients. The apples are crunchy yet juicy while the berries have an awesome texture due to their juiciness as well! You could also use bananas if your child has any allergies or finds them irritating because they’re soft and delicious (plus it might be easier on sensitive skin).

*Method:

Start by adding some whipped cream in with either vanilla ice cream or strawberries whichever one you prefer.

*Recipe:

In a bowl, pour about ¾ cup of strawberry or vanilla ice cream and ½ teaspoon of whipped topping per person for garnish (optional) – Add in your fruit to the top off with any other toppings you want like granola, chocolate chips, coconut flakes etc. – You can also add sprinkles on top if desired! It will make them look more appealing when served at parties as well.

*Serving Size: this recipe makes two servings but it is easy to double or triple depending on how many people are eating ! **Notes/Variations : Adding cereal as an extra layer before adding all the ingredients together gives it that nice crunchy texture that everyone loves while the ice cream melts.

You can also switch out the fruit to make it more personal. Like if you want a tropical taste, add pineapple or mango! There are endless possibilities with what fruits could be used and all of them would come out tasting delicious so get creative in the kitchen !

When I was in the third grade, my teacher would celebrate our birthdays with a party! The best part of these parties is that we could bring whatever food we wanted and she would provide all of the plates for us to serve it on. Homemade cupcakes were always popular but one year someone brought brownies and they ruled them all ! One thing about birthday parties are that there’s usually cake left over after everyone has had their share so I go home and tell my parents what kind of cake you like because sometimes they’ll buy me some so then we can have our own little celebration at home too !! This really makes me happy because it reminds me when I used to go to birthday parties when I was a kid too.

This is the most important thing that my parents did for me because it really set up those memories and positive interactions with people who cared about me while still being able to have fun ! My family always made sure that we had food in the house so if there were any leftovers, they would share them around our neighborhood as well so everyone could enjoy them together! You know what’s also great? When I got older, instead of having one cake at home like before, sometimes we bought two cakes and shared between ourselves or someone else in need so then not only are you bringing back good memories but you’re spreading more joy too !! That way no matter where life takes us after this time, those good times can be the ones that we always want to come back and visit anytime! . __ *This post was written by a Litmos user.* ** * _Please note:_ * This is an excerpt of a longer piece, not complete content in its entirety._ ** **Other Posts by this Author:__ ** “Parenting Advice from Kids’ Book Authors” __ [^] (includes video) **”My Favorite Memories Dating Dad!”__[^]**”[Comics]: A Touching Story about Two Brothers-in-law.”**[[^]]*[+]”You Know What’s Great?” ** [[^]]*[+][[“A Child Remem
